This is a non-NERO related post, so feel free to skip it if this isn't up your alley.
I am starting a new game called
The Dreaming. It's one part LARP, one part
ARG, one part social networking site. The Dreaming takes place in the world where we go when we sleep. It's a 24/7 game where players create the game's locations and activities.
The game can be played at any time or place. You don't need to be in Southern Connecticut, you just need a group of friends to join you in the game world.
If you and your friends have a favorite hangout spot, whether it's a park, restaurant, or friend's house, you can enchant that territory with special significance in-game. These territories are marked on the community's map, and can become gathering points for other players. Characters can contest these territories and steal them from each other.
Optimally, you'll have a party to go on Dream Walks (modules) with you. Other people in your party will become the NPCs you encounter during the adventure. By documenting your participation on the Dreaming website (using photos, video, or blog entries), you can affect overarching game plotlines. You might be cooperating or competing with players elsewhere in the country without ever physically meeting them.
We've announced a two week long
alpha test. This will begin in the last half of March. During this time, I'll be collecting feedback from everybody and getting the game prepared for a lengthier run. I'll also be recruiting writers to help build the Dreaming's plot and storylines.
If you're interested, take a peek at the website, and check in on the forums.
We already have three groups signed up for the alpha test - one in Fairfield, one in Middletown, and one in Long Island. You cats in Connecticut are in just the right spot!
